The project consists of permanent improvements to an existing water treatment and pumping plant facility that is owned by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Improvements include the excavation and construction of two new 67 foot diameter x 25 foot deep, cast-in-place concrete reinforced sludge clarifier tanks, installation of new mechanical rake arm systems and bridge, the installation of inlet and outlet piping systems, demolition of existing mechanical, piping, and electrical systems. Modifications to an existing sludge press building, salvage and relocation of an existing 1-1/2 meter sludge press, furnish and install two new 3 meter sludge presses including associated horizontal and inclined sludge disposal conveyor systems. Installation of new horizontal sludge pumps and associated yard piping systems, demolition and removal of 24 existing traveling bridge-mounted sludge vacuum pumps, modifications to the existing traveling bridge piping systems and installation of 24 new sludge suction pumps. Additional work includes installation of new electrical, instrumentation, and control systems as well as finish site grading, concrete curb and gutter and asphalt paving.
